Shade Okoya, wife of Nigerian billionaire, Chief Rasaq Okoya has opened up on how she met her husband.
She spoke in a recent interview while celebrating their 25 years of marriage.
Speaking with Channels Television, the 47-year-old mother of four shared that their first meeting was through work, but he was very keen to see her again.
On their second meeting, he straightforwardly expressed his desire to marry her.
She said:
鈥淲hen I met my husband, it was not a typical kind of meeting. I met him for a different purpose entirely, it was more work related. Looking back now, I know that my husband had his own mission and purpose then. We met casually, he saw me and he was just all about 鈥業 will like to see you again鈥� and I saw him the next time and it was just straight to the point then. He said 鈥業 would like to marry you鈥� which to me was too soon and too sudden because I wasn鈥檛 expecting anything like that. It was later on I got to know that he actually wanted a wife immediately.鈥�
In the interview, Shade Okoya talked about how her family felt about Chief Rasaq Okoya鈥檚 proposal. She recalled that on their second meeting, her husband was with a friend who claimed to know her very well. When she probed further, she learned that he was acquainted with her mother and grandmother and was, in fact, one of her uncles.
鈥淚 didn鈥檛 tell any of my family members, my husband actually made that move himself. When he met me the first time, I knew he liked me but I wasn鈥檛 too sure. When I saw him the second time and he dropped the question that he wanted to marry me, he doesn鈥檛 want to waste my time, he鈥檚 not into all those long kind of thing. You can understand from his own point of view that he has to be plain and honest, he doesn鈥檛 want to play around. I didn鈥檛 even know what to say, I didn鈥檛 even reply him but right there, I knew I wasn鈥檛 going to see him again. During that same visit, he was with his friends, they usually hang out together and one of them just took an interest and said he knows me very well, and along the line, he realised he knew my mum and my grandmother so later, I got to know that the man in question was an uncle鈥�, she said.
The businesswoman stated that after the meeting, her uncle went to her grandma to talk about Rasaq Okoya鈥檚 intentions. She also shared that her mother encouraged her to consider the billionaire鈥檚 offer, saying he liked her and would provide for her.
